Thematic maps and the results panel allow you to display the values of any selected property for all network elements on the map, or to colour-code them. But what if you want to view all the properties for a specific element?
A new option called ‘Element Properties’ has been added to the QGISRed Queries menu for this purpose. After selecting this option and clicking on any element, a new window will open, stacked in the right-hand side panel, usually below the results panel, to display the properties.
This window is linked to the element search by ID, which can be collapsed or expanded. In this way, we can also view all elements linked to the selected element. Together, they form the QGISRed Element Explorer.
The selected feature is highlighted on the map, whilst the feature type and its ID are displayed as the window title. Below this, the Label and Description fields are shown, if they contain any content.
The properties window currently contains two tabs. The data tab displays all properties of the selected feature, which vary depending on the feature type and whether or not a quality model has been declared. For each property, its value is displayed in a predefined format, along with the corresponding units. Any changes to the data will be immediately reflected in the properties window.
If simulation results are available, a second tab, highlighted in yellow, will appear to display the results associated with the selected element. The properties displayed depend on whether the element is a node or a line, as well as on the specific type of element. Quality values will only be displayed if a quality model has been previously defined.
For each variable, its value is displayed in a predefined format, along with the corresponding units. The values shown in this tab are linked to the time navigator in the results panel, so that as you move forwards or backwards in time, the results are updated. For clarity, the time at which the displayed results correspond is highlighted at the top of the table.
